Kingshot Beginner Guide 2026: Your First 100 Days Masterclass

EvanEvan

Everything new governors need to know about heroes, alliances, rallies, and building a foundation that lasts

The first 100 days of a server are the most important stretch of your entire Kingshot journey. Alliances form, territory is claimed, and the foundation of your account is built.

This guide is designed for players who want to understand the game, not just click buttons. Whether you're completely free-to-play or planning to spend, these principles will set you up for long-term success.

Your First Priority: Follow the Chapter System

Kingshot

The Chapters system (found at the bottom of your screen) is not just a tutorial. It's a progression guide that tells you exactly what to upgrade and when. Complete these tasks, and you'll earn resources, speed-ups, and hero shards. More importantly, you'll never waste time wondering what to do next.

Once Chapters are complete, Growth takes over—it ensures you're keeping up with the buildings that matter most. And don't forget your Dailies. These are your primary source of free gems and resources, and they become more valuable as upgrade costs skyrocket.

Pro tip: If you forget to upgrade a building that a mission requires, you'll stall your entire progression. Check the requirements before you start upgrading anything else.

Join an Alliance—Immediately

Alliance

This is not optional. It's the single most important decision you'll make in Kingshot.

Alliances unlock the game's most powerful mechanic: Alliance Help. Every time you start a building upgrade, research, or troop healing, your alliance members can tap a button to reduce the timer. At higher Embassy levels, this can shave hours off your upgrade times.

Here's how it works:

  • Your Embassy determines how many helps you can receive and how much time each help reduces
  • At Embassy level 25, you get 22 assists at 73 seconds each—over 26 minutes of free help per upgrade
  • With alliance research (Cooperative Protocols & Treatise), you can get 37 assists at 223 seconds each—over 2 hours of help

But alliance benefits go beyond help timers:

  • Alliance chests give free speed-ups and resources when members buy packs
  • Alliance shop lets you trade currencies for valuable items
  • Alliance technology boosts everyone's stats
  • Rallies require alliance coordination (more on this below)

Find an active alliance.A dead alliance is worse than no alliance. Prioritize activity over power—an alliance with 50 daily players will outpace one with 100 ghosts every time.

Heroes: Your Most Important Investment

Heroes

Heroes are the engine of your power in Kingshot. But here's the mistake most beginners make: they spread their resources too thin.

Once your Town Center reaches level 13, you unlock Drill Camp. This is a game-changer.

Drill Camp lets you select five Drill Instructors—the only heroes you'll ever spend Hero EXP on. Every other hero you place into Drill Slots automatically matches the lowest level among your five instructors.

For example: if your five instructors are levels 40, 42, 41, 39, and 35, every hero in a Drill Slot becomes level 35. No EXP spent. No grinding.

Key Drill Camp rules:

  • Only upgrade five heroes with EXP
  • Drill Slot heroes are only "visually" upgraded—remove them and they revert
  • Use Level Resets to reclaim EXP from heroes you no longer use
  • More Drill Slots unlock as your Town Center levels up

The Two Most Important Heroes for Beginners

Saul (Legendary Archer)— This is the first hero you should invest in. Why? Because his expedition skill Resourceful is active all the time, regardless of whether you're using him. It gives:

  • 15% Construction Speed(at max level)
  • 15% Construction Cost Reduction

Saul

This means every building you ever upgrade is faster and cheaper. Forever. The value compounds over months of gameplay. As of the March 2025 hot fix, Saul's skill was enhanced to emphasize his unique town growth role.

Diana (Epic Archer)— You unlock Diana through the Desert Trial event, which appears early in every server. Her expedition skill Iron Constitution reduces your stamina costs by up to 20%.

Stamina is how you hunt beasts, rally Terrors, and participate in events. Diana saves you stamina on every single march she's involved in. Over weeks of gameplay, that adds up to dozens of extra rallies—which means more resources, more hero tokens, and faster progression.

Diana

Other key heroes to watch:

  • Chenko— Essential for rally joining; her lethality buff makes her one of the best joiner heroes
  • Amane— Another top-tier joiner hero for rallies
  • Amadeus— Strong rally leader for early-game content

When you join a rally, only your first hero's first expedition skill counts. Your second and third heroes do nothing for the rally except increase your troop capacity.

For Bear Hunt (more on this below), joiners should prioritize heroes with lethality buffs—flat stat increases that stack multiplicatively. Chenko and Amane are the gold standard.

Understanding Rallies: Leader vs. Joiner

Rallies are the primary method for attacking strong targets in Kingshot—enemy cities, Bear Hunt, and other PvE bosses. But most players misunderstand how they work.

The Rally Leader

The leader contributes:

  • All buffs— combat research, governor gear, hero equipment, pet bonuses, consumables, cosmetics
  • Rally capacity— determined by Command Center level
  • All three hero expedition skills
  • Their own troops' damage

The Rally Joiner

Joiners contribute:

  • Troops— which benefit from the leader's buffs
  • One single hero skill— the first expedition skill of the hero in the first slot (marked by a green flag)
  • Crucial:Joiners do NOT contribute their own stats from governor gear, charms, research, or consumables. Their second and third heroes only increase personal deployment capacity.

The game selects the top four joiner skills based on skill level. Flat stat buffs (lethality, attack) stack. Percentage-based chance abilities do not stack.

For F2P and low spenders: Don't lead rallies—your stats won't be strong enough. Focus on being an excellent joiner. Level up Chenko, Amane, Gordon, and Yeonwoo to 4 stars and get their first expedition skills to level 5.

The Bear Hunt: Your Most Important Event

Bear Hunt

Bear Hunt(also called Bear Trap) is the single most rewarding recurring event in Kingshot. It happens every two days and rewards Forge hammers, hero tokens, enhancement parts, and millions of resources.

  • The event lasts 30 minutes from activation
  • Your alliance deals as much damage as possible to the Bear
  • Rewards scale with damage dealt
  • You collect Hunting Arrows from Intel Missions to upgrade the Pitfall (up to level 5)

Bear Hunt Strategy

  • For leaders:Choose rally hosts based on repeatable damage output, not habit. The best host lineup is the one your alliance can use consistently. Don't change hosts just because a hero is newer—change when the new hero clearly raises the damage ceiling.
  • For joiners:The optimal joiner combination is2 Chenkos + 2 Amanes, which deals approximately 12.5% more damage than 4 Chenkos.
  • Troop formation:Use an offensive, archer-heavy formation—typically10% Infantry, 10% Cavalry, 80% Archers. Archers have the highest lethality among all troop types.

Stamina: Don't Let It Sit Idle

Stamina regenerates at a rate of 1 every 5 minutes. Launching a march costs 10 stamina; starting a rally costs 25.

Key stamina rules:

  • Joining someone else's rally costszerostamina
  • If you lose a battle that consumes stamina, your stamina is refunded
  • Diana can reduce stamina costs by 10-20%

Never let your stamina bar sit full.Use it on:

  • Beasts (solo monster hunting)
  • Intel Missions (via the Watchtower)
  • Terrors (alliance rallies)
  • Desert Trial events

Stamina converts directly into resources, hero tokens, and progression. Every point of stamina you waste is progression you'll never get back.

Building Priority: Town Center First, Embassy Second

YourTown Centeris the heart of your account. It unlocks:

  • New buildings
  • Higher hero levels (level 80 requires Town Center 26)
  • Higher troop tiers (T10 troops require Town Center 30)

Always prioritize Town Center upgrades.Everything else is secondary.

Your second priority is theEmbassy. Higher Embassy levels mean:

  • More alliance helps
  • More time reduced per help
  • More reinforcement capacity

For spenders:Buy thesecond construction queuepermanently. It's the best value purchase in the game and dramatically accelerates your Town Center progression.

The Decree System: Free Buffs You're Probably Ignoring

Kingshot's interface includes several powerful tools that many players overlook entirely.

One of the most valuable is theCity Bonus Window(accessible via a small arrow under your profile picture). It offers:

A free rechargeable shield

Counter-reconnaissance ability

Purchase options for troop, deployment, gathering speed, and training capacity bonuses

The gathering speed boostis particularly valuable—it doubles resource collection and only needs to be active when troops reach the resource node.

Another must-use decree isDouble Time, which cuts 20% off construction time for all upgrades started in the next 5 minutes. It has a 1-day cooldown, so use it daily.

Resource Management: Gathering Beats Production

Early on, your town buildings (farms, lumberyards, quarries, mines) seem like your primary resource source. But their scaling diminishes significantly later.

Wilderness gathering eventually becomes far more substantial—higher-level nodes in the Plains and Fertile Land can yield over 1 million food or wood per hour.

Adjust your research priorities to focus on gathering-related projects after the first few weeks.

Resource tip:Wood and iron seem to be more important than food and stone in the current meta. Prioritize these in your gathering and trading.

Resident Happiness: Small Rewards, Zero Cost

Your residents have a happiness meter that affects daily rewards. While not critical, maintaining high happiness gives you free keys and gems every day.

Happiness comes from:

  • Fullness (kitchen)
  • Sleep (houses)
  • Comfort (various buildings)
  • Mood (various buildings)

Upgrade your houses and kitchen to keep happiness high. It costs resources, but the daily gem rewards add up over time.

Conclusion

Kingshot is a game of compounding advantages. The decisions you make in your first week—which heroes to invest in, which alliance to join, which buildings to prioritize—will echo through months of gameplay.

Now go forth, Governor. Your kingdom awaits.
