Kingshot Master Academy Guide: Best Masters, Skills, and Progression Strategy

EvanEvan

The Master Academy adds another permanent progression system to Kingshot, but simply leveling every Master is not the best way to use it. Your Journey Supplies, Master Emblems, Manuscripts, and training time are limited, so choosing the right Master and skill at the right time matters.

This guide explains how the Master Academy works, which Masters deserve priority, and how to build your progression without wasting valuable resources.

What Is the Master Academy in Kingshot?

master academy

The Master Academy is a permanent account-wide progression system that improves different parts of your Kingshot account, including combat, resource production, gathering, Arena performance, and event-specific abilities. Unlike temporary buffs, the bonuses you unlock here remain part of your account's progression.

The system has two connected parts. First, you send Masters on Realm Journeys to build Affinity and eventually recruit them to your city. After a Master settles, you can develop their skills and research bonuses using Academy resources.

One important mechanic makes the system different from normal research: all Masters share one learning queue. You cannot train several Masters simultaneously, so spreading resources across multiple skill trees can leave you with several mediocre bonuses instead of one meaningful power spike.

How to Unlock the Master Academy

The Master Academy is not available from the beginning of a new kingdom. Your account needs to meet two conditions:

  • Town Center Lv.25 or higher
  • Your kingdom must reach the required server-age progression, generally around the transition into Generation 3 Heroes

Current guides place this unlock around Server Days 101–114, rather than the older Day 150 estimate that sometimes appears in community discussions. If your Town Center is already Lv.25 but the Academy has not appeared, your kingdom may simply not have reached the required generation yet.

So, is your server already in Gen 3? If yes, check your Town Center first. You may be closer to unlocking the Academy than you think.

Meet the Master Academy Masters

The original Master Academy launch introduced Valora, Pan, and Roman, but the system has since expanded. Current Master Academy references list six recruitable Masters: Valora, Pan, Roman, Cassia, Guinevere, and Wilson. Their usefulness varies heavily depending on how you play Kingshot.

Valora — The Hunting Specialist

Valora is the first Master you work with, making her an unavoidable part of your early Academy progression. Her kit is closely connected to Bear Hunt, but her value is not limited to damage.

Her most important skill for many players is Weapon Obsession, which increases your Forgehammer rewards from Bear Hunt. This makes Valora particularly valuable for long-term Hero Gear progression. Leader by Example, which provides additional Enhancement XP Parts, is another strong investment for developing accounts.

For most F2P and low-spending players, Valora should remain one of your highest priorities. Her bonuses can continue generating useful resources instead of simply increasing a temporary combat stat.

Recommended focus: Weapon Obsession → Leader by Example.

Pan — The Economy Engine

Pan is arguably the most universally useful Master because his bonuses improve your account's daily resource flow.

His abilities interact with gathering, Watchtower Intel, stamina, construction, and the Mystery Shop. His Falconer skill is especially valuable because additional Intel opportunities can generate more True Gold, older Hero Shards, and other useful rewards. Ways and Means further improves Mystery Shop value through additional badges and refreshes.

The important point is that Pan's value compounds over time. A combat Master may help you win one event, but an economic Master can generate additional resources every day for months.

Recommended focus: Falconer → Ways and Means → stamina-related utility.

Roman — The Arena Specialist

Roman is built around Arena, so his value depends heavily on how often you participate in that mode.

His reward-focused skills, particularly Winner Take All and Crowd Favorite, improve Arena Token income and provide additional discounted shop options. His combat abilities are useful if you are actively competing for Arena rankings, but they are less attractive if Arena is not one of your main activities.

This makes Roman a classic specialization choice: excellent for an Arena-focused player, but not necessarily the best place to put your early Manuscripts if your account has more important progression bottlenecks elsewhere.

Recommended focus: Winner Take All → Crowd Favorite → combat skills if Arena performance is a priority.

Cassia — The Battle Master

Cassia is a much more combat-oriented option than Pan or Roman. Her bonuses are designed around rallies and field combat, making her especially attractive to active alliance fighters and rally leaders.

Her skills can improve Squad Attack, Defense, Lethality, Health, and Rally Capacity, while Recruiter In Chief provides additional troop-related value. Because her skills can progress beyond the older Masters' Level 10 ceiling, investing heavily in Cassia can become expensive.

For players who regularly participate in rallies and open-world fights, however, that investment can have a much broader impact than Roman's Arena-specific bonuses.

Recommended focus: Recruiter In Chief → Inspiring Mobilization → combat-stat skills.

Guinevere — The Swordland Specialist

Guinevere is much more specialized. Her combat bonuses are primarily tied to Swordland Showdown and Swordland Summit League, meaning her value depends almost entirely on how seriously your kingdom treats those events.

Her Merciful Heart skill is particularly interesting because it can provide free healing during Swordland activities, while Royal Guidance improves combat performance in those modes. Call of Round Table is another option for players who regularly lead rallies.

If Swordland is a major part of your gameplay, Guinevere can be extremely valuable. If you rarely participate, however, she should not automatically become your next major investment simply because she is a newer Master.

Wilson — The Utility Option

Wilson is another later addition to the Master Academy system. His progression is more specialized than the universal value offered by Pan or the combat focus of Cassia.

That makes Wilson a Master you should evaluate according to your current account needs rather than blindly pushing because he is available. In particular, players following strict KvK power-management rules may find utility in unlocking him without immediately pouring large amounts of skill resources into him.

Realm Journeys and Lostlands Explained

Realm Journeys are the foundation of Master Academy progression. You spend Journey Supplies to explore, trigger encounters, make choices, and gradually build relationships with Masters.

There are two important progression checkpoints:

  • 50 Journeys: Unlocks Auto Journey.
  • 60 Journeys: Unlocks the Lostlands.

Lostlands uses Adventure Supplies instead of normal Journey Supplies. More importantly, once a Master has been encountered and established through the normal Journey system, Lostlands provides a more targeted way to pursue Master-related progression rather than relying on the same encounter mix as standard Journeys.

For this reason, your first objective should not be “maximize every Master.” It should be get through the Journey milestones efficiently and unlock the parts of the system that make later progression easier.

Journey Supplies: Don't Let Them Go to Waste

Journey Supplies are one of the easiest resources to waste because they regenerate over time.

Current data indicates that players receive 40 free Journey Supplies per day, distributed across three UTC reset windows:

  • UTC 00:00 — 20 Supplies
  • UTC 08:00 — 10 Supplies
  • UTC 16:00 — 10 Supplies

The normal storage cap is 100 Supplies, so allowing your inventory to remain full can cause future regeneration to be wasted.

This is particularly important for F2P players. You cannot compensate for missed daily supplies as easily as a spender can, so simply using your free daily attempts consistently becomes a major part of long-term optimization.

Simple rule: Don't let your Journey Supply bar sit at the cap when another reset is approaching.

How Master Affinity and Skills Work

Master progression has two different layers: Affinity and Skills.

Affinity represents your relationship with a Master. As you increase it through Journeys and gifts, you unlock higher relationship stages and eventually gain access to more of that Master's progression system. A Master reaches the initial settlement milestone at 1,000 Affinity, while higher relationship stages unlock additional skill and research opportunities.

After a Master settles, you can start investing in their skills. The Academy's research system is unusual because the learning timer is started first, and the required resources are consumed when the training completes. That means your learning queue should almost never sit idle if you have a worthwhile upgrade available.

The four major resource categories to understand are:

  • Gifts: Used to build Master progression/Affinity.
  • Master Emblems: Used for Master-specific progression and research.
  • Skill Speedups: Reduce Master skill training time.
  • Master Manuscripts: Used for higher-level skill advancement.

Because the learning queue is shared, the real question is not “Which Master can I upgrade?” but “Which upgrade gives my account the biggest return right now?”

Best Master Unlock Order

There is no single order that is perfect for every Kingshot player. Your priorities should change according to your account type.

F2P / Low-Spender

Valora → Pan → Cassia/Roman

Valora is fixed as your first major Master, while Pan is generally the safest second choice because his bonuses improve your daily resource generation.

For the third position, choose Cassia if you regularly fight on the world map or participate in rallies. Choose Roman if Arena is one of your main daily activities. Current Master Academy guides similarly recommend Pan as the general-purpose second investment for developing accounts.

Rally Leader / War-Focused

Valora → Cassia → Pan → Roman

If you spend most of your time leading rallies or fighting on the map, Cassia's broad march bonuses can provide more immediate combat value than an Arena-focused Master.

Arena-Focused

Valora → Pan → Roman → Cassia

Even for Arena players, Pan remains a strong early investment because his economic benefits affect the entire account. Roman then becomes your specialist investment for Arena Tokens, shop discounts, and combat performance.

KvK-Focused

The strategy changes slightly during strict KvK preparation periods. You can unlock Masters and use resources that do not contribute to KvK scoring, but consider holding Master Emblems, Manuscripts, and skill Speedups until the appropriate scoring window.

This does not mean you should blindly hoard everything. Permanent income bonuses that start paying you back immediately can be more valuable than a short-term event score advantage.

Best Skills to Prioritize

If you want a simple priority list instead of studying every Master tree, use this as a starting point:

Master

Priority Skill

Main Benefit

Valora

Weapon Obsession

More Forgehammers from Bear Hunt

Valora

Leader by Example

More Enhancement XP Parts

Pan

Falconer

More Intel and daily resources

Pan

Ways and Means

Better Mystery Shop value

Roman

Winner Take All

More Arena Tokens

Roman

Crowd Favorite

More discounted Arena purchases

Cassia

Recruiter In Chief

Extra troop-related rewards

Cassia

Inspiring Mobilization

Larger rally capacity

Guinevere

Merciful Heart

Free healing in Swordland

Guinevere

Royal Guidance

Stronger Swordland combat

The key is to stop treating skill levels as a checklist. A Level 3 skill that solves your current bottleneck can be far more valuable than a Level 1 skill on a theoretically stronger Master.

Should You Save Master Academy Resources for KvK?

Yes—but don't overdo it.

Master Emblems, Manuscripts, and Skill Speedups can be relevant to KvK-style scoring, while Gifts generally do not carry the same scoring concern. That makes Gifts much safer to spend immediately.

A practical approach is:

Before KvK: Accumulate scoreable Master resources.

During the scoring window: Spend them on meaningful upgrades rather than random levels.

Outside KvK: Invest in permanent bonuses that increase your daily income or resource efficiency.

This creates a better balance between short-term event rewards and long-term account growth.

Common Master Academy Mistakes

Leveling Every Master at Once

This is probably the easiest way to waste Manuscripts. Since all Masters share one learning queue, spreading your investment across several trees delays the point where any individual Master becomes genuinely useful.

Ignoring Free Daily Journeys

Missing Journey Supplies may not feel important on a single day, but the lost progression adds up over weeks and months. F2P players should treat their daily 40 Supplies as a routine task.

Chasing Combat Stats Without Checking the Mode

Roman is great for Arena. Guinevere is highly specialized for Swordland. Cassia shines in field combat and rallies. Don't invest in a Master simply because the displayed combat number looks impressive.

Hoarding Everything for KvK

Resource hoarding has a purpose, but permanent daily bonuses can generate value long before the next event arrives. If a Master skill increases your Forgehammer, True Gold, or other recurring income, delaying it indefinitely may actually cost more than the event points you gain.

Letting the Learning Queue Sit Empty

The Academy is time-based progression. If you have a useful skill ready to train, start it. Even when you are saving resources for KvK, you should think carefully about whether the queue can be used efficiently without sacrificing your event plan.

A Simple Master Academy Routine

If you don't want to constantly calculate your progression, use this routine:

Every day: Spend your free Journey Supplies and check your learning queue.

Every few days: Review your current Affinity milestones and see whether a new skill breakpoint is close.

Before KvK: Stop and identify which Master resources will contribute to the upcoming event.

After KvK: Resume your main progression path and invest in the next high-value permanent bonus.

Before spending Gems: Ask yourself whether the purchase unlocks a meaningful skill or merely gives you a small amount of extra progression.

Conclusion

The Master Academy rewards smart specialization. Prioritize the Masters and skills that match your playstyle, keep your Journeys and learning queue active, and save key resources for important progression or KvK windows.
