The 999 Nights board game mode replaces your normal character builds with a dedicated loot and leveling system. Knowing what to equip at each stage is what separates a slow, painful grind from a smooth sprint to level 100 and a fully cleared event shop. Mone’s guide covers the recommended gear for your first story run, your Challenge mode push, and the optimized Nightmare farming setup.
How Gearing Works
First playthrough: Raw stats are everything. Equip the highest-rating pieces you find and keep moving.
Challenge mode (second run): Monster HP spikes hard. You need set bonuses and specific weapon effects, especially the Whiteflame that lets your team passively burn down entire packs.
Nightmare mode (third run): Mythic gear becomes the goal. Here you’ll also farm Fate Stone, a special accessory that counts as one piece of any set, letting you activate a 4-piece bonus and a 2-piece bonus from a different set simultaneously, a massive power spike.
Sub-stats don’t matter until you’re hunting Mythic gear at level 95+. Before that, just getting the correct set effects is enough.
Story Mode Gear Rule: Just use the highest-rated gear you can find. The only item worth actively equipping is Secret Syrup on Iroi ,its splash damage makes clearing packs much faster, and the accessory is provided during the story. For Shinku, simply stack defense and survivability; she won't become a reliable tank until much later.
Challenge Mode: The Whiteflame Engine
Purpose: Level 40 → 100, farm legendary sets, defeat the Crimson Dragon.
This is where you assemble the famous Whiteflame build. Its core idea: gear effects convert Crimson Flame into Whiteflame, then spread the burn automatically in a large area.

Esper Zero’s weapon and armor apply Whiteflame in an AoE every 3 seconds, even off-field.
Mint’s set spreads Whiteflame to nearby enemies on any ally’s attack.
Iroi’s set prevents Crimson Flame from expiring and heals the team whenever an ally hits a burning target, giving permanent sustain.
Shinku’s set grants massive defense and damage reduction, letting her gather huge packs and tank everything while the burns do the work. Give her movement speed accessories for sprinting between pulls.
Endgame (Nightmare Mode):The Graduation Sets
In Nightmare mode, enemies have millions of HP and a damage cap limits burst. Your focus shifts to maximising Whiteflamedamage while making the farming loop fully AFK. All gear here is Mythic (red), and every character uses a Fate Stone to unlock a powerful 4+2 set combination. The table below shows the core equipment; the 2-piece bonus activated by each Fate Stone is listed underneath.

Because 99% of Whiteflamedamage is attributed to Esper Zero, his stats directly scale your entire team’s burn damage. Stack ATK% and Crit Rate on him above all else. The rest of the team exists to amplify him and stay alive.

Key gear notes:
For Zero, the weapon to aim for is the Eclipseflame Longsword, while Unstable Charge and Fate Stone offer far better farming efficiency than the defensive accessories used earlier.
Mint's next step is to pick up the Lightdancing Twinblades, while still wearing the Sunseeker Light set. Her role is to keep the team's damage scaling high so the farming loop never loses momentum.
Iroi's core function stays unchanged from before. Dayrite Codex is her ideal weapon, and combining it with Shared Emberdream keeps her contribution steady and dependable.
Shinku now takes the spotlight. Equip Tempered Flame as her weapon, Blessed Nightfall as her armor set, as the go-to accessory pair. If you haven't found two Burning Bones yet, Once Shinku plants herself in a dense mob pack, she can simply stand still and let the build auto-farm with almost no manual input.
How to Farm Your Endgame Sets
All Mythic gear and Fate Stone drop exclusively in Nightmare mode. The most efficient spot is the Crimson Castle spider room near the Cinder Way bonfire.

1. Teleport to Crimson Castle and rest at the Cinder Way bonfire.
2. Jump down into the main hall to aggro all the spiders and armoured knights.
3. With your Whiteflame engine running, the entire pack burns itself down automatically.
4. Return to the bonfire, click Refresh Monsters, and repeat.
A single clear of the room nets around 900–1,400 Mysterious Buttons plus a pile of gear. When you first load into Nightmare, your Whiteflame stacks will be low. Spend a few minutes letting Iroi build up around 300 stacks before the loop reaches full speed. With this setup, clearing the entire event shop takes only a day or two of passive farming.
Conclusion
The right gear at the right time is your ticket to dominating the 999 Nights. Follow the progression from story mode throwaways to the full graduation sets, and you’ll turn a daunting grind into a relaxed, friendly farming loop.
