Blackbird is a limited S-Rank character introduced in Neverness to Everness Version 1.4. She is a Psyche / Gas Arc character built around Instant Cycle, off-field coordinated attacks, and two combat forms centered on Witch of Deliverance.
Blackbird is highly flexible and can fit into several teams. The main issue is that Zankou already has mature team options, so slotting Blackbird into an existing Zankou team does not always produce a clear performance increase.
Her team value may rise further once Akane Rin and other new characters arrive. Below is our complete guide to build Blackbird, roll down for more details.

Blackbird uses her Chain Cage to perform up to five consecutive attacks, dealing Psyche DMG. Hitting a target grants Malice.
Basic Attack: Roostcall
Hold Basic Attack during the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd hit of Fleeting Shadow to use Roostcall. Blackbird traps the target with her Chain Cage, deals Psyche DMG, and greatly reduces the target's Movement Speed for a period. Hitting the target grants Malice.
Basic Attack: Lingering Ailment
Press Basic Attack while airborne to plunge. On landing, Blackbird deals AoE Psyche DMG. Damage increases with fall height, up to 100%. Hitting a target grants Malice.
Critical Riposte: Avian Instinct
After triggering a Critical Dodge, use Fleeting Shadow to activate this riposte, dealing Psyche DMG and gaining Malice.
Witch of Deliverance Basic Attacks
After entering Witch of Deliverance, Blackbird gains a different Basic Attack moveset.
Basic Attack: Pyreflame
Performs up to five consecutive attacks dealing Psyche DMG. Hits consume Malice to deal additional Malice damage.
Basic Attack: Grace Unto You
Hold Basic Attack during the second hit of Pyreflame. Witch of Deliverance rises into the air, briefly charges, and deals large-area Psyche DMG, consuming Malice on hit.
Basic Attack: Gospel for All
Hold Basic Attack during Grace Unto You or Ferrying Deathfire to deal multiple hits of Psyche DMG and consume Malice on hit.
Basic Attack: Scorchmark
Press Basic Attack while Witch of Deliverance is airborne to plunge and deal AoE Psyche DMG on landing. Damage increases with fall height, up to 100%.
Critical Riposte: Born of Calamity
After Witch of Deliverance triggers a Critical Dodge, use Pyreflame to activate this riposte, dealing Psyche DMG and consuming Malice.
Special Mechanic: Benediction
Blackbird gains different amounts of Malice from the following actions:
- Basic Attack: Fleeting Shadow
- Basic Attack: Roostcall
- Basic Attack: Lingering Ailment
- Critical Riposte: Avian Instinct
- Counter: Extermination
- Redirect Skill: Netherplume Rite
Blackbird also gains Malice immediately when entering combat.
Malice is capped at 60.
While in Witch of Deliverance, Blackbird can no longer gain Malice. Instead, her attacks consume Malice to deal additional damage.
Redirect Skill: Netherplume Rite
Blackbird attacks with her Chain Cage, deals Psyche DMG, and applies Forsaken Feather to targets hit for 15s.
On cast:
- Gain 40 Malice
- Gain 100 Cycle Energy
While Forsaken Feather is active, attacks from other on-field teammates against the marked target trigger Forsaken Bird coordinated attacks.
Forsaken Bird:
- Deals AoE Psyche DMG
- Can trigger once every 2s at minimum
- Can trigger up to 5 times
This is the core of Blackbird's Sub-DPS and off-field coordinated-attack role.
Redirect Skill: Ferrying Deathfire
While in Witch of Deliverance, Blackbird rushes toward the target, deals Psyche DMG, and consumes Malice.
It must first be activated by one of the following:
- The 5th hit of Basic Attack: Pyreflame
- Counter: No Sorrow
After use, the skill returns to its inactive state.
Ultimate: Requies Animarum
Blackbird transforms into Witch of Deliverance, unleashing a multi-hit attack that deals massive Psyche DMG.
Witch of Deliverance:
- Duration: 16s
- Cannot be interrupted
- Increased Movement Speed
- The remaining duration pauses while Blackbird is off-field
After casting Requies Animarum:
- All allies gain 20% ATK
- Duration: 15s
- Consumes 100 Ultimate Energy
This team-wide buff is a major reason Blackbird can contribute both personal damage and support.
Ultimate: Flammae in Unum
Casting the Ultimate again ends Witch of Deliverance and triggers Flammae in Unum, dealing multiple hits of heavy Psyche DMG.
Support Skill: Condemn Me
Blackbird transforms into a lone bird and attacks the target, dealing Psyche DMG.
Hitting the target grants Malice.
Support Skill: Only Mercy Remains
Witch of Deliverance attacks the target, dealing Psyche DMG and consuming Malice.
Blackbird Passives

Stain Enhancement
Stain's base DMG bonus increases to 30% and its duration is extended to 20s.
Nova Enhancement
When Nova ends, Blackbird deals additional Mental DMG equal to 20% of the actual cumulative damage the target took during Nova.
This bonus damage cannot exceed 1000× Blackbird's Base ATK and is unaffected by other DMG bonuses or reductions.
Afterward, Blackbird applies Nova to the target once more. Nova applied by this effect cannot trigger the same reapplication effect again.
Long Road
When Blackbird uses Support Skill: Condemn Me, she gains 20 Malice.
Wing Patrol
Outside combat, Blackbird can transform into a lone bird and fly at high speed.

Blackbird Core Mechanics

Rarity: 5⭐ | Element: Psyche | Arc: Gas
Blackbird has two combat states: her normal form and Witch of Deliverance.
Her normal form focuses on building Malice, triggering Instant Cycle, and enabling off-field coordinated attacks.
After using Redirect Skill: Netherplume Rite, Blackbird immediately fills the Cycle gauge and applies Forsaken Feather. After she swaps off-field, teammates attacking the marked enemy trigger Forsaken Bird coordinated attacks.
Blackbird does not need to remain on-field in her normal form. Apply the mark, use the required skills, then swap to a teammate.
Casting Ultimate: Requies Animarum transforms Blackbird into Witch of Deliverance and changes her moveset.
In this form, she spends Malice for burst damage and gains Witch-form attacks such as Pyreflame and Ferrying Deathfire. Casting the Ultimate again triggers Flammae in Unum for a finishing burst and ends the transformation.
Because the Witch of Deliverance timer pauses while Blackbird is off-field, she works especially well in quick-swap or dual-DPS rotations.
Blackbird Skill Upgrade Priority
First, unlock both passives.
Then prioritize:
Basic Attack ≈ Redirect Skill ≈ Ultimate > Support Skill
Blackbird's damage is spread across her Basic Attack, Redirect Skill, and Ultimate, so all three are worth leveling.
If resources are limited, adjust the order around your preferred rotation.
Support Skill has lower priority. However, if you plan to use her with Linko, it is worth putting in a few more levels because Linko's synchronized follow-up can use Blackbird's Support Skill multiplier.
Blackbird Best Arcs
Best-in-Slot: Crime and Punishment

Rarity: 5⭐ | ATK: 570 | CRIT Rate: 24%
Cycle Strength +72.
Increases the wielder's Psyche DMG by 20%. After the wielder casts an Ultimate, all allies gain 16% CRIT DMG, while the wielder gains an additional 32% CRIT DMG for 15s. Repeated triggers refresh the duration.
Crime and Punishment is Blackbird's signature S-Rank Arc and her best overall option. It boosts Blackbird's personal damage while also supporting her team-buff and Cycle-focused gameplay, making it a strong pull if you plan to invest in her long term.
If you want to build Blackbird as a Main DPS or invest heavily in her, Crime and Punishment is the preferred choice.

Alternative: Good Boy's Grand Adventure

Rarity: 5⭐ | ATK: 474 | ATK%: 45%
Charge Efficiency +18%.
After the wielder casts an Ultimate, all allies gain 10% ATK for 20s. If the Ultimate also applies a control effect to the enemy, the team gains an additional 6% ATK. Effects of the same name do not stack.
If you do not have Blackbird's signature Arc, Good Boy's Grand Adventure is a solid alternative. This Arc leans more toward team utility and provides a useful ATK buff, making it a comfortable transitional option.
Other Arc Alternatives
If you already own any of the following Arcs, they can also work as temporary options:
|
Ravenous Blade |
Rarity: 5⭐ | ATK: 570 | CRIT Rate: 24% CRIT Rate +16%. When the wielder deals Incantation DMG, gains 9% CRIT DMG for 15s, stacking up to 7 times. This effect can trigger once every 0.3s, and repeated triggers refresh the duration. |
|
Cosmos Daze, Wild Reverie |
Rarity: 4⭐ | ATK: 475 | ATK%: 25% After the wielder uses a Support Skill, their DMG increases by 18% for 10s. Can trigger once every 20s. |
|
Watch Your Heads! |
Rarity: 4⭐ | ATK: 475 | CRIT DMG: 40% After the wielder uses a Redirect Skill, ATK increases by 10%. Lakshana DMG dealt to enemies affected by Delay or Stain also increases by 10% for 15s. This effect does not stack. |
|
Contemplative Cat |
Rarity: 4⭐ | ATK: 512 | CRIT DMG: 44% For every 100,000 Fons held, the wielder gains 2.5% Cosmos DMG, up to 10 stacks. |
These are mostly stopgap choices. Use them if you already own them, but there is little reason to spend heavily on them specifically for Blackbird.
For a serious Main DPS Blackbird build, Crime and Punishment remains the main target.
Blackbird Best Modules
Main DPS / Sub-DPS: Devil's Blood: Curse

Blackbird's preferred Module set is Devil's Blood: Curse, the standard Psyche-focused set.
The set increases Psyche DMG and provides additional damage against enemies affected by Nova or Stain, making it a strong fit for Blackbird's current team options.
If you can get good stats, prioritize this set.
Pure Support: Speedy Hedgehog
Speedy Hedgehog is another viable option.
The Hedgehog setup can fit six Type III Modules, helping add roughly 16% CRIT Rate and making Blackbird's stat sheet easier to balance.
If both sets are available, Devil's Blood: Curse remains the priority.
Cartridge Main Stat
With Crime and Punishment:
CRIT DMG / Psyche DMG
Both are viable.
If your Arc does not provide enough CRIT Rate, such as Watch Your Heads!, you can switch to CRIT Rate as the main stat to stabilize your build.
Substats
Recommended priority:
CRIT Rate ≈ CRIT DMG > DMG% > ATK% > Cycle Strength > Flat ATK ≈ Stain Strength > Other Stats
For A0 + signature Arc, use the following as a rough target:
|
Stat |
Target |
|
CRIT Rate |
Around 90% |
|
CRIT DMG |
170%+ |
|
DMG% |
35%+ |
|
Psyche DMG |
Around 30% |
|
ATK |
1700+ |
Do not force your build to match these numbers exactly. Treat them as general targets.
Blackbird Best Teams
Blackbird is a Psyche character and can form Esper Cycles with Lakshana and Chaos characters, so her Main DPS and Sub-DPS team directions differ.
Main DPS Blackbird
A more ideal framework is:
Blackbird + Lakshana + Chaos + DMG Support
The main problem is that the ideal teammates for this setup are not fully available yet.
Version 1.4 Phase 2 character Akane Rin is a Lakshana character. If her mechanics work well with Blackbird, the Main DPS setup could become much more complete.
For now, there is no need to force an incomplete Main DPS team around Blackbird.
Sub-DPS: Zankou Team
The easiest existing team to slot Blackbird into is a Zankou core:
|
|
|
|
|
|
Blackbird |
Zankou |
Daffodill / Lacrimosa |
Sakiri / Iroi / Linko |
The Chaos slot can be adjusted based on your roster.
- Daffodill: speeds up Stain buildup.
- Lacrimosa: remains a strong option at higher Awakening investment.
- Sakiri / Iroi: flexible support options.
- Linko: smooth in rotation, but requires more familiarity with synchronized follow-ups.
This team works fine, and Blackbird is not weak here.
However, Zankou already has well-established teams. In testing, replacing an existing teammate with Blackbird can result in similar clear times and may not produce a noticeable upgrade.
So Blackbird is not mandatory for Zankou teams.
Blackbird + Chaos
|
|
|
|
|
|
Chaos |
Blackbird |
Zero / Sakiri |
Hathor / Iroi |
The team is playable, but its overall value is fairly average right now.
If you only care about performance, it is not worth pulling extra characters specifically for this setup.
Blackbird Awakening Priority
Considering both damage and support value, the recommended order is:
1 → 5 → 4 → 6 → 3 → 2
Breakdown:
- A1 / A3 / A6: Focus more on personal damage.
- A2 / A4 / A5: Focus more on utility and team support.
A1
Highest priority.
Flammae in Unum can consume remaining Malice, while Ferrying Deathfire receives a major multiplier increase.
If you want more personal damage from Blackbird, A1 is the most direct upgrade.
A2
Strengthens her normal-form Redirect Skill, improves survivability in Witch form, and adds healing to Ferrying Deathfire.
This node is more about comfort and survivability, so its damage value is lower than the higher-priority nodes.
A3
Directly increases Malice-related damage multipliers.
A straightforward personal-damage upgrade.
A4
Extends the ATK buff from Requies Animarum and adds a team-wide DMG bonus.
A4 becomes more valuable if Blackbird is mainly used as a Sub-DPS or buffer.
A5
After Blackbird deals damage, she reduces the target's Psyche, Lakshana, and Chaos RES.
This provides strong team value in mixed-element setups built around Nova, Stain, and related reactions.
A6
Further increases Blackbird's Psyche damage and improves Malice generation in her normal form.
A high-investment node focused on personal damage.
Blackbird A0 Rotation
The core idea is simple: apply the mark, enter Witch of Deliverance, then use quick swaps so Blackbird's coordinated attacks overlap with teammate damage.
Standard Rotation
Enter → Netherplume Rite → Requies Animarum → swap to teammates for damage → return to Blackbird → Flammae in Unum → Netherplume Rite → repeat
Use this for a full rotation.
Start with Netherplume Rite to apply Forsaken Feather, then enter Witch of Deliverance and swap to your teammates. While they stay on-field, they can trigger Blackbird's coordinated attacks. Swap back afterward to finish the remaining Witch-form burst.
Quick Burst
If you only need a fast burst window:
Enter → Netherplume Rite → Requies Animarum → Flammae in Unum → leave field
Depending on Cycle timing and your team rotation, you can also use:
Enter → Requies Animarum → Flammae in Unum → Netherplume Rite → leave field
You do not need to memorize one rigid sequence. The important part is to stagger Forsaken Feather, Witch-form burst damage, and teammate field time so the paused off-field transformation timer is not wasted.
Final Thoughts
In the current version, Blackbird is roughly a solid but not overwhelming option.
Her full core kit works at A0, including Instant Cycle, off-field coordinated attacks, and Witch of Deliverance, so she is fully functional without Awakenings.
The issue is that Zankou teams are already well established. Blackbird can fit in, but replacing an existing teammate does not always produce a meaningful gain in clear speed or damage.
Right now, Blackbird is best described as a mechanically complete and flexible character whose ideal team environment has not fully arrived yet.
If you have decided to pull Blackbird and also want Crime and Punishment or additional Awakenings, check whether you have enough Riftcrystal first. If you need more pulls, you can top up Neverness to Everness on Mone.
