Whiteout Survival SvS Guide: Preparation, Battle Phase, and Winning Strategies

PyrePyre

State vs State (SvS) is one of the most important competitive events in Whiteout Survival. Unlike regular alliance events, SvS requires an entire State to work together against another State. Players compete during a multi-day Preparation Phase before entering a cross-state Battle Phase featuring city attacks, troop battles, and the crucial Sunfire Castle Battle.

For most players, success in SvS is not simply about having the highest Power. Proper resource management, choosing the right day to spend materials, coordinating with your alliance, and knowing when to attack or defend can make a huge difference. This Whiteout Survival SvS guide explains how the event works and how to win.

What Is SvS in Whiteout Survival?

SvS, officially called State of Power, is a cross-state competition in which two States are matched against each other. The event consists of a five-day Preparation Phase followed by a 12-hour Battle Phase. After the battle, players enter a Field Triage period that helps recover troops lost during the conflict.

svs guide

The Preparation Phase focuses on different development activities each day. Players earn personal and alliance points by completing the appropriate tasks, while the combined performance of the State determines which side receives the advantage going into the Battle Phase.

The Battle Phase then moves the competition onto the battlefield. Players can cross into the opposing State, attack enemy cities, defeat troops, and fight for the Sunfire Castle.

One important rule is that the Preparation Phase and Battle Phase have separate rankings and scoring systems. Performing well during preparation does not automatically guarantee success during the battle itself.

SvS Preparation Phase Guide

The Preparation Phase is where most of your SvS planning should happen.

The biggest mistake new players make is spending valuable resources as soon as they obtain them. Many items provide significantly better SvS value when used on the appropriate day.

Instead of thinking, "What can I upgrade today?", think, "Which upgrade gives me the most SvS points today?"

The five preparation days are generally organized around:

Day

Main Theme

Main Resources

Day 1

City Construction

Fire Crystals, Construction Speedups

Day 2

Research / Basic Skills

Research Speedups, Hero Shards, Lucky Wheel

Day 3

Beast Slay

Stamina, Pet Materials

Day 4

Hero Development / Training

Training Speedups, Mithril, Hero Gear

Day 5

Power Boost

Gear, Fire Crystals, Speedups, Remaining Materials

What Should You Save Before SvS?

Ideally, begin preparing at least one to two weeks before SvS.

Important resources include:

  • Construction Speedups
  • Research Speedups
  • Training Speedups
  • Expert Skill Speedups
  • Fire Crystals
  • Fire Crystal Shards
  • Refined Fire Crystals
  • Hero Shards
  • Lucky Wheel attempts
  • Chief Stamina
  • Hero Gear Essence Stones
  • Exclusive Gear Widgets
  • Mithril
  • Chief Gear and Charm materials
  • Pet advancement materials
  • Pet refinement materials
  • Gems
  • Resource items

We specifically recommends stockpiling speedups, Fire Crystals, stamina, Chief Gear and Charm materials, Hero Essence Stones, Hero Widgets, Hero Shards, and Pet materials before the event.

Do not completely empty your inventory during Preparation, however. You will need resources and speedups to heal and recover troops during the Battle Phase.

Day 1: City Construction

Day 1 focuses primarily on construction and building development.

High-value activities include using Fire Crystals and Refined Fire Crystals for building upgrades, spending Construction Speedups, and increasing Chief Charm scores.

For example, 2,000 points per Fire Crystal used for building upgrades, 30 points per minute of Construction Speedup, and 30,000 points per Refined Fire Crystal.

Day 1 Strategy

Save your longest and most expensive building upgrades for this day.

One important mechanic is that a building upgrade generally only needs to start during Day 1 to receive the corresponding preparation points. It does not necessarily need to finish before the day ends. This allows you to begin a long Furnace or building upgrade immediately after reset and let it continue afterward.

You should also coordinate with your State leadership to take advantage of available construction buffs before spending large amounts of speedups.

Best Day 1 priorities:

  • Start major building upgrades.
  • Spend Fire Crystals on eligible upgrades.
  • Use Construction Speedups.
  • Upgrade Chief Charms when appropriate.
  • Avoid wasting Training Speedups unless necessary.
  • Keep enough resources for later days and the Battle Phase.

Day 2: Research and Basic Skills

Day 2 is centered around research, hero development, Lucky Wheel activity, gathering, and related upgrades.

This is one of the most resource-efficient days for players who have saved their materials properly.

Current scoring data includes:

  • Fire Crystal Shard used for research: 1,000 points
  • Research Speedup: 30 points per minute
  • Lucky Wheel: 8,000 points
  • Rare Hero Shard used for ascension: 350 points
  • Epic Hero Shard: 1,220 points
  • Mythic Hero Shard: 3,040 points
  • Expert Sigil: 6,000 points

Day 2 Strategy

Save your Research Speedups and Fire Crystal Shards specifically for this day whenever possible.

Lucky Wheel attempts can also provide a large amount of SvS progress, so avoid spending your saved attempts immediately before the Preparation Phase.

Gathering can also contribute points. A useful trick is to send gathering marches before the daily reset and make sure they return after the reset, allowing the resources to count toward the new day's score.

Expert Sigils and Books of Knowledge are also valuable sources of points.

For F2P players, this is a good day to combine several free or naturally accumulated activities rather than relying on premium resources.

svs guide

Day 3: Beast Slay

Day 3 is focused on Beast hunting, Polar Terror rallies, stamina, and Pet development.

It is one of the most important days for players who have accumulated a large amount of Chief Stamina.

Current scoring information gives 30,000 points for calling a Polar Terror rally, while defeating higher-level Beasts also provides more points.

Pet refinement is another major source of points, with Advanced Wild Marks offering particularly high value.

Day 3 Strategy

Do not waste your stamina before this day unless you need to.

Prioritize:

  • High-level Beasts
  • Polar Terror rallies
  • Pet advancement
  • Pet refinement
  • Chief Charm upgrades
  • Expert Sigils and Books of Knowledge when appropriate

Higher-level Beasts are generally preferable when your goal is to maximize SvS points.

If your alliance is running many rallies simultaneously, make sure the targets are realistic for the number of players joining. Failed rallies waste stamina and reduce the overall efficiency of the alliance.

For players with limited resources, Beast hunting is one of the most accessible ways to contribute meaningful points without spending large amounts of premium materials.

Day 4: Hero Development and Troop Training

Day 4 focuses heavily on troop training and Hero Gear development.

Important resources include:

  • Training Speedups
  • Hero Gear Essence Stones
  • Exclusive Gear Widgets
  • Mithril
  • Chief Charms

Troop Training Strategy

One of the most important preparation tricks is to prepare your troop queues before Day 4.

Unlike building upgrades, troops need to finish training during the relevant scoring period to receive the points. Therefore, you can begin long training queues on an earlier day and use training capacity boosts so that the troops finish during Day 4.

Day 5: Power Boost

Day 5 is the final preparation push and is usually the longest preparation period.

This is essentially the final opportunity to convert your remaining resources into SvS points.

Important activities include:

  • Chief Gear upgrades
  • Pet advancement
  • Pet refinement
  • Hero Gear upgrades
  • Exclusive Gear
  • Mithril
  • Fire Crystals
  • Research
  • Construction
  • Training
  • Speedups

Do not spend everything simply because it is the last preparation day.

You can check the list on that day:

  • Your personal milestone progress.
  • Your alliance ranking.
  • Your State's position against the opponent.
  • How much you still need to reach your desired reward tier.
  • How many resources you need for healing after the Battle Phase.

Then spend your remaining materials where they provide the greatest value.

A good Day 5 priority is to use resources that were intentionally saved for this day, especially Chief Gear materials, Mithril, and remaining speedups.

SvS Battle Phase Guide

After five days of preparation, SvS enters its 12-hour Battle Phase.

This is where the event changes from resource management to cross-state PvP.

Players with Furnace Level 16 or higher can cross into the opposing State. Current mechanics provide three free Cross-State Teleports, allowing players to enter enemy territory and attack targets.

However, attacking without a plan can quickly turn a strong account into an easy source of points for the enemy.

The Furnace Level Rule

One of the most important Battle Phase mechanics is the ±3 Furnace Level restriction.

You generally only receive SvS points from troop kills and losses involving opposing players within three Furnace Levels of your own. In rallies, the Rally Captain's Furnace Level is used to determine eligibility for participating players.

This means you should not randomly attack targets just because they appear weak.

Instead, coordinate with your alliance and identify suitable targets within the scoring range.

Preparations for Attack

The first part of the Battle Phase allows players to invade the enemy State and attack cities.

Before teleporting, prepare:

  • Your strongest combat heroes.
  • Appropriate troop formations.
  • March speed boosts if necessary.
  • Enough healing resources.
  • A clear target.
  • Alliance rally coordination.

Avoid attacking strong enemy cities alone.

Rallies are usually much safer and more effective because several players can combine their troops and heroes against a single target.

Target Selection

Prioritize targets that:

  • Are within the required Furnace Level range.
  • Have valuable troop numbers.
  • Are not heavily reinforced.
  • Can be defeated without excessive losses.
  • Are already being coordinated against by your alliance.

Do not chase a single target across the map and waste multiple teleports.

Be Careful With Shields

Battle Phase protection works differently from normal gameplay.

Attacking or scouting can remove your shield and trigger a period during which you cannot immediately shield again. Reinforcing allies, however, does not remove your shield.

This creates an important rule:

If you are not actively fighting, protect yourself.

After completing your attack or Castle assignment, return to a safe position and shield when appropriate.

This is especially important for weaker players. A player who cannot win offensive battles can still provide enormous value by reinforcing stronger players and objectives while avoiding unnecessary losses.

Sunfire Castle Battle

The Sunfire Castle Battle is the centerpiece of SvS.

The Castle Battle takes place in the State that lost the Preparation Phase. It lasts five hours, with the winning alliance needing to hold the Castle for 2.5 consecutive hours. If no alliance achieves that, the side with the longest cumulative occupation time wins.

The Castle fight is not simply about sending your strongest march to the Castle.

It requires coordination between:

  • Castle occupation
  • Turret control
  • Reinforcement
  • Rally attacks
  • Defense
  • Teleport management
  • Rotation of troops

sunfire castle battle

Strong alliances should assign players to specific roles before the battle starts.

For example:

  • Primary fighters:Focus on attacking and defending the Castle.
  • Rally leaders:Coordinate rallies against important enemy marches and Castle positions.
  • Reinforcement players:Keep important Castle and turret positions filled.
  • Support players:Monitor enemy movements, reinforce allies, and help control the surrounding area.

This organization prevents dozens of players from performing the same task while important positions remain undefended.

How SvS Battle Points Are Calculated

Battle Phase scoring is based largely on troop kills and troop losses.

Castle and turret occupation can also generate points, so the Battle Phase is not exclusively about killing troops.

This is why blindly attacking weak targets is not always the best use of your troops. A coordinated alliance can generate points while simultaneously controlling important objectives.

Triage: Recover Your Lost Troops

After the 12-hour Battle Phase ends, the Field Triage period begins.

This recovery period is extremely important because many troops that appear to be permanently lost can still be recovered.

A recovery window lasting roughly 50 hours, with a State-wide healing-speed benefit active during the period.

The base recovery rate is currently 30%, and players can increase it with Rebirth Tomes from alliance members and Revival Potions purchased with Gems. The documented maximum is 90%.

svs recover troops

Field Triage Strategy

Immediately after the Battle Phase:

  • Open the Field Triage interface.
  • Check your recovery percentage.
  • Request Rebirth Tomes from alliance members.
  • Use available recovery resources.
  • Continue healing troops normally.
  • Do not ignore the recovery window.

Alliance coordination matters here because Rebirth Tomes provided by other players can significantly increase your recovery rate.

Common SvS Mistakes to Avoid

One of the most common mistakes in SvS is spending resources on the wrong day. While some resources may provide points throughout the Preparation Phase, they are often much more valuable when used during their designated scoring day.

Players should also avoid using too much Stamina before Day 3, as doing so can significantly reduce their opportunities to earn points from Beast hunting once the Beast Slay phase begins. Troop training should be planned carefully as well, since completing training outside the relevant scoring window can waste a valuable source of SvS points.

During combat, avoid fighting alone against organized enemy players whenever possible, as uncoordinated solo attacks can lead to unnecessary troop losses. Players who are no longer actively participating should also remember to use a shield, as remaining unprotected can make them easy targets for enemy attacks.

After the Battle Phase, do not overlook Field Triage, since failing to recover available troops can greatly increase the overall cost of participating in SvS.

Conclusion

Overall, success in Whiteout Survival SvS depends on careful preparation, efficient resource management, and strong coordination rather than Power alone. Save valuable materials before the event and use them on the days when they provide the most points, while keeping enough resources for the Battle Phase and troop recovery.

F2P and low-spending players can contribute effectively through gathering, Beast hunting, troop promotion, and alliance activities, while stronger players should balance maximizing points with maintaining sufficient combat resources.

Above all, SvS is a State-wide competition, so individual performance is only part of the equation. By following daily objectives, coordinating with your alliance, choosing targets carefully, and participating strategically in battles, players can maximize their contribution while minimizing unnecessary losses.
