Winter Siege Core Rules
Before you start throwing your best heroes around, you need to understand how matching and defending actually works.
How To Qualify and Set Up Your Defense
- Top 20 Only: Only the state's top 20 alliances can join this clash. If your alliance isn't in the top 20, time to rally and push that power.

- Fair Matchmaking: Don't stress about matching whale states. Matchmaking takes place within the same zone, prioritizing opponents with similar tier levels. Weak players get weak opponents, strong players get strong opponents.
- The "Rejected" Squad Rule: At the end of Day 2, a designated number of the strongest squads in each stronghold are automatically selected to defend. If your squad is lower power, you might see a "rejected from garrison" text. Don't worry! Even if you aren't defending, you can still attack enemy strongholds during the battle phase.

- The Warden Mechanic: Your R4 and R5 officers can pick one of the top five most powerful squads in the alliance and make them the Warden. The Warden gets extra stars and significantly more hearts than regular squads to act as your ultimate defense anchor.

Battle Phase Strategy
The actual combat feels a lot like Canyon Clash mixed with Ice Fire League. You can't just blind-attack anywhere, and you can actually wear down massive cash players through pure numbers.
Unlock Associations and Driving Down Enemy Morale
- The Canyon Clash Pathing: There is an unlock association between strongholds. You must defeat all garrison squads in the current stronghold before you can attack the connected strongholds beyond it.

- Heart Losses: Every time a garrison squad loses a battle, they lose one heart. Lose all hearts, and that squad is totally booted, costing the stronghold its stars.

While attacker morale stays at a fixed 100%, garrison squads lose morale every time they win to prevent a single whale from solo-defending forever:
|
Current Garrison Morale |
Morale Drop Per Win |
Effect on Stats |
|
Morale > 70% |
Drops by 10% |
Squad stats multiply by morale % |
|
35% < Morale ≤ 70% |
Drops by 5% |
Stats keep getting weaker |
|
Morale ≤ 35% |
Drops no further |
Cap reached |
- Morale Reset: If a tough garrison squad loses a heart but isn't fully defeated yet, their morale resets straight back to 100%.
- Attack Attempts: Every squad starts with 3 attack attempts. You recover 1 attempt every 2 hours after the battle begins, up to 7 total recoveries. Use them wisely!

Winter Siege Victory Conditions
It all comes down to a simple math game to see who takes home the bag.
Star Counts and New Shop Currencies
- Winning the Match: When the battle timer hits zero, victory is assigned to whichever side has the most stronghold stars remaining.
- Sweet Rewards: Doing well gets you win streaks and victory loot. The sneak peek showed Daybreak Island rewards and a completely new coin currency, which means we are likely getting a brand-new event shop to buy rare upgrade materials.

Summary
This new PVP mode looks like a massive win for active, coordinated alliances. Start talking to your R4s, map out who your top 5 powerhouse players are for those Warden buffs, and make sure everyone logs in on Wednesday to drop their defense squads.
